Nayi Subah – Nashe Se Azadi, Zindagi Ke Saath | 6th Drug Awareness Event at GDC Pulwama

Pulwama, October 18:
Continuing its mission to build a drug-free society, the Save Youth Save Future Foundation organized the 6th Drug Awareness Event under its ongoing campaign “Nayi Subah – Nashe Se Azadi, Zindagi Ke Saath” at Government Degree College Pulwama, in collaboration with the District Administration Pulwama and the Social Welfare Department.

The event aimed to raise awareness among youth about the growing menace of drug addiction and the need for collective efforts to curb it. Students, faculty members, and officials from various departments participated enthusiastically, making it a strong platform for dialogue and awareness.

Distinguished guests from the Health Department, Youth Services and Sports Department, Social Welfare Department, and respected religious scholar Mr. Feroz Ahmad shared valuable insights on the psychological, social, and moral impacts of drug abuse. They highlighted the importance of family support, community vigilance, and spiritual strength in preventing substance use among young people.

Mr. Jasib Shabir, District Coordinator Pulwama of Save Youth Save Future, delivered the welcome address and hosted the event. He reaffirmed the organization’s vision of a drug-free Pulwama, emphasizing youth leadership and community involvement.

Mr. Irshad Ahmad Bhat, Research Scholar, addressed the gathering on the link between cross-border terrorism and drug trafficking, explaining how narcotics are used to weaken youth and destabilize society. His address left the audience more aware of the broader dimensions of the drug crisis.

An interactive Q&A session allowed students to engage directly with officials from the Health, Social Welfare, and Youth Services and Sports Departments. Questions focused on rehabilitation facilities, mental health support, and preventive measures. Officials responded with clarity and compassion, encouraging youth to take active roles in building a drug-free society.

A student voting activity was also conducted to form a dedicated Anti-Drug Committee within the college. The committee will submit monthly reports on campus-related issues, including drug abuse and harassment, to the District Administration.

The event concluded with a collective pledge by students, staff, and guests to uphold the vision of a drug-free Pulwama. The Save Youth Save Future Foundation reaffirmed that when youth, administration, and institutions work together, the dream of an addiction-free society becomes achievable.
