In a significant push towards agricultural modernization, the Save Youth Save Future (SYSF) Foundation, in collaboration with Apple Care Agro Boonura Pulwama and the Kheti Yari Team, organized a High-Density Orchard Farming Awareness Camp on December 9, 2023, in Pulwama, Kashmir.
This transformative event aimed to revolutionize traditional farming practices by introducing farmers to scientific and high-density apple cultivation techniques, vital for improving productivity and sustainability in the region.
The camp was led by renowned orchardist Mr. Jittu Chauhan, who captivated the audience with his expertise in high-density apple farming. He underscored the importance of modern agricultural methods, stressing the need for Kashmiri farmers to adopt scientific techniques to compete in domestic and international markets.
In a highly informative interactive session, Mr. Chauhan provided in-depth knowledge on:
Scientific cultivation of high-yield apple varieties
Disease management and plant mortality reduction
Orchard planning and spacing techniques
Strategies for maximizing returns and market competitiveness
Growers actively participated in a Q&A session, seeking expert advice tailored to local challenges and climatic conditions.

🔹 Ms. Anika Nazir, Women’s Wing Head of SYSF, encouraged educated women to explore careers in scientific farming, championing gender inclusivity in the agricultural sector. Her call for empowering women farmers was met with resounding support from the attendees.
🔹 Mr. Mudasir Ahmed Dar, Zonal President of SYSF South Kashmir, emphasized the long-term benefits of high-density farming in ensuring economic security and environmental sustainability.
🔹 Local activist and event host, Mr. Mir Mushtaq, facilitated seamless proceedings and anchored thought-provoking discussions around Pulwama’s potential as a hub for modern horticulture.
