Public Darbar Held in Pulwama: DGP J&K Presides Over, SYSF Highlights Transformation of the District

Pulwama, 21st December 2022:
A Public Darbar was held today in Pulwama district, presided over by the Director General of Police, J&K, Shri Dilbagh Singh. The event was attended by ADGP Kashmir, DIG South Kashmir, Deputy Commissioner Pulwama, SSP Pulwama, and other senior officials from the civil and police administration, alongside a cheerful gathering of local residents.

Speaking at the event, Mudasir Ahmed Dar, Zonal President (South Kashmir) of the NGO "Save Youth Save Future (SYSF)", delivered a powerful address reflecting on the dramatic transformation witnessed in Pulwama over recent years.

Dar highlighted the critical role of both civil and police administrations in reshaping the district from one once engulfed in militancy, drug abuse, fear, and hopelessness, into a thriving hub of peace, prosperity, and development.

“Pulwama was once a hotspot of militancy, drugs, and instability,” he said. “It was reeling under the shadows of fear, anxiety, corruption, and hopelessness. The very word ‘peace’ seemed unimaginable—but today, that narrative has been completely rewritten.”

He shared stories of real change, citing how public confidence has been restored. According to him, Pulwama is now seen as a dream destination for entrepreneurs and business leaders, and a welcoming gateway to Srinagar for tourists.

Dar emphasised that public offices and police stations are now accessible, responsive, and largely free of corruption. “People don’t hesitate to approach the offices of the SSP or DC anymore. Smiles on the faces of citizens are testimony to the hope they now have for a brighter future,” he said.

He added that villages once known for militancy have now become hosts to public darbars, symbolising a renewed trust between the people and the administration.

In his concluding remarks, Mudasir Ahmed Dar thanked the police and civil administration for their sacrifices and tireless work under the able leadership of the DGP. He also extended his gratitude to the people of Pulwama for their resilience and cooperation in building a peaceful and progressive society.

“We hope this public support and mutual trust continues to grow, taking Pulwama’s development to the next level,” he said.
