Today, on 29th June 2022, the NGO "Save Youth Save Future" (SYSF) organised a day-long Youth Parliament at the Conference Hall, Eddy Hotel, U2 Plaza, Bypass, Sopore.

Speakers at the event included:

Mr. Zia Ul Islam – Social Activist and Village Sarpanch of Fatehgarh, Baramulla

Mr. Wajahat Farooq Bhat – Chairman, "Save Youth Save Future" Foundation

Mr. Mohammad Amin Dar – Local Athlete and President of a Local Sports Academy

The event featured wide-ranging deliberations on social media, education, empowerment, disinformation, and various youth-oriented issues.

Key Highlights:

Mr. Zia Ul Islam

Mr. Zia Ul Islam shared his personal transformation story, from being a former stone pelter and Public Safety Act (PSA) detainee to now becoming a locally elected representative. He explained how he was radicalized by anti-social elements, who themselves ensured better futures for their own children, while manipulating others into conflict for vested interests.

He stressed that education is a powerful tool—both for change and for social good. He emphasized the need for the younger generation to be equipped with secular and modern education, which can break the stagnation in society.

“Our faith, Islam—like every other faith—strives for peace, tranquility, and the betterment of society,” he said.

Mr. Wajahat Farooq Bhat – Chairman, SYSF

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Wajahat Farooq Bhat argued that we are living in an era where it is crucial to differentiate between information and disinformation, reality and fiction, facts and myths.

He stressed the responsible use of social media and education for the collective good, and warned against the monopolization of public space by certain elements—whether political or religious.

“Religious communities must protect and reclaim their faith from extremist elements who misuse religion to propagate hate for political interests,” he said.

Mr. Wajahat also highlighted the importance of rational debates in both religious and secular spheres to foster religious harmony and universal brotherhood.
He added that education must serve the public good, acting as an instrument of positive change, rather than being a platform for promoting extremism or bigotry.

He concluded by emphasizing that women are an integral part of society, and without ensuring their empowerment, society cannot progress.

Mr. Mohammad Amin Dar – Local Athlete & Academy Head

Mr. Mohammad Amin Dar, a renowned athlete and head of a local sports academy, shared his 28 years of experience working with youth.
He spoke about how thousands of young individuals have trained at his academy, learning values such as discipline, self-confidence, teamwork, and self-reliance.

He applauded the sporting achievements of youth from Jammu & Kashmir, many of whom have represented India at national and international levels.

“The younger generation should follow in the footsteps of those athletes who have made indelible contributions to our national glory,” he stated.

Interactive Session & Conclusion

The event concluded with an interactive and thought-provoking Q&A session, where students actively participated and shared valuable feedback and queries.

Mr. Wajahat Farooq Bhat closed the session by reaffirming that "Save Youth Save Future" will continue to organize youth-centric seminars and awareness programs aimed at fostering education, literacy, empowerment, and national integration.
