"Save Youth Save Future"organised First-ever "Elders Parliament" at Baramulla Jammu and Kashmir .
Today on 4 June, J&K "Save Youth Save Future" organised the first ever remarkable event of "Elders Parliament" at Pattan Degree College, Baramulla.
The event marked the presence and participation of a huge number of audiences from across the district Baramulla.
Participants from different walks of life shared their life experiences in the pre 1990s era.
The speakers shared their wisdom and discussed the role & responsibilities of elders in our society. They also spoke about the responsibility of Parents, Grand Parents to guide their children, and grandchildren on the rightful path. the importance of education in one life & why the grandparents or the elders of society need to come forward. And take the centre stage of the Kashmir society and how they can bring hope and instil optimism in youth.
The elders informed the audience about communal harmony and peaceful coexistence which existed in the pre1990s era; they highlighted how Sufi Culture thrived in Kashmir & how people of all faiths used to live together for a common cause.
Elders Parliament witnessed open discussion followed by an interactive questions and answers session in which the audience raise multiple questions to our estimated speakers.
Importantly The parliament witnessed discussions on the growing trend of radicalizing among youth, perverted interpretation of religious texts for political ends & How grandparents and elders can provide course correction to our youth and children by sharing their experiences and stories from the glorious past of Kashmir.
A young man in his late 20s said “it was an eye-opener for me when I heard that when our grandparents were young, how was their lives, how they used to go to colleges with friends in a free environment and used to watch cinemas, how they used to walk freely in streets late nights and used to go shopping or picnics with their families.”
In The Parliament, hundreds of audience and the officials from civil administration, Army , Police were also present who addressed the gathering and asked the youth to learn from the experiences & wisdom of our elders.
The event was concluded by the Chairman "Save Youth Save Future" with his insightful views on emerging problems in society and how we can deal with societal crises through multifront but collective effort. He raised the importance of people's co-ordination with Administration- Civil & security forces in uprooting the social evil from society. He thanked all the participants for their kind participation and patience in making this a grand mega event.
He also thanked the Indian Army, Baramulla Police and college authorities for their cooperation and support in making this a grant success.
