Baramulla, April 18, 2022:
Today, the “Save Youth Save Future” (SYSF) Foundation organized a significant program titled "Peaceful Coexistence and Compassion for Humanity at the Heart of Islam" at Darul Uloom Quarashi, Sheeri, Baramulla. The event focused on promoting Islamic teachings of peace, harmony, and universal human values.
The event was presided over by Mufti Tariq Ahmad Misbahi, the current Principal of Darul Uloom Quarashi. Other distinguished guests included Mr. Mir Iqbal, Block Development Chairman Narwah; Mr. Wajahat Farooq Bhat, Chairman SYSF; Mr. Fayaz Ahmad Mir, a noted socio-political activist; and several local Imams and religious scholars.
Mufti Tariq Ahmad Misbahi opened the session by emphasizing the core values of Islam—peaceful coexistence, mutual respect, interreligious harmony, and compassion for humanity.
He highlighted the life and message of Prophet Muhammad (SAW), stating that the Prophet stood for universal peace and the welfare of all people, regardless of ethnic, racial, or religious backgrounds.
“Islam stands for a violence-free society and promotes universal human values,” he said, urging Muslim youth to spread the true message of Islam and resist falling prey to anti-social elements.
Mr. Mir Iqbal underlined the importance of education in Islam, pointing out that it is a fundamental tenet of the religion. He emphasized the need to combine religious education with modern fields such as science and technology.
“Islam has always promoted education for all—regardless of gender or creed. Our youth must pursue knowledge to contribute to the betterment of society,” he said.
He also appreciated the positive role of local Imams in guiding youth and driving social transformation.
Mr. Wajahat Farooq Bhat, Chairman of SYSF, spoke passionately about Islam’s emphasis on uplifting the marginalized, and how the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) was a mercy for all of humanity, not just for Muslims.
“Islam from the very beginning has advocated for education and the upliftment of the underprivileged. The Prophet’s life is a complete code of mercy, guidance, and compassion,” he stated.
He warned the youth against falling victim to extremist ideologies, urging them to stay rooted in true Islamic teachings and work toward peace and development.
“Violent ideologies have no place in Islam or in the land of Kashmir,” he added.
The event saw enthusiastic participation from local Imams, religious scholars, and intellectuals, who contributed valuable insights on how religion can be a catalyst for positive societal change. Key themes discussed included:
Brotherhood
Compassion
Tolerance
Mutual respect
These were all highlighted as core principles of Islam essential to community development and interfaith harmony.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr. Wajahat Farooq Bhat, who expressed his deep gratitude to Darul Uloom Quarashi, Mufti Tariq Ahmad Misbahi, and the local community for their support and active participation.
He praised the collaborative spirit of the gathering and reaffirmed SYSF’s mission to build a peaceful, educated, and united society rooted in compassion and coexistence.
“Today’s event is a testament to what we can achieve when we come together for shared human values,” he said.
