Today, the Jammu & Kashmir Save Youth Save Future (JK-SYSF) Foundation organized a mega event at Dak Bungalow, Baramulla, focusing on women empowerment and career counselling for the youth. The program brought together prominent voices from civil society, education, administration, and sports.
The event was presided over by DSP Headquarters Baramulla Mr. Sajad Bukhari, and attended by notable guests including Er. Mehraj Malik, renowned social activist and educationist; Mr. Wajahat Farooq Bhat, Chairman JK-SYSF; Mr. Tauseef Raina, Chairman of Municipal Council Baramulla; Mrs. Ramanjeet Kour, teacher and activist; Mr. Shabir Ahmad Malik, Chairman of an educational institution in Baramulla; Ms. Anika Nazir, youth and women's rights activist; and internationally recognized sports personalities Ms. Ishrat Akhtar and Mr. Shah Huzaib.
The session began with a talk by Er. Mehraj Malik, who provided insights into career opportunities available for the younger generation. He emphasized the importance of internet and digital literacy in the current age of information and how youth can harness online platforms for learning, growth, and employment. He also discussed the impact of cyberspace on our daily lives and urged students to use the internet constructively to develop technology-driven knowledge.
Mrs. Ramanjeet Kour spoke on innovative teaching methods, stressing the need for interactive and empathetic learning environments rather than traditional, rigid methods. She highlighted the transformational role of women in society, urging women to stand up and contribute meaningfully to social change.
Mr. Tauseef Raina shared his inspirational journey from a lower-middle-class background to becoming the Chairman of the Municipal Council Baramulla. He outlined his contributions in the sectors of sanitation, health, and education, and how small yet impactful changes at the grassroots level can lead to broader societal transformation.
Mr. Shabir Ahmad Malik, who runs a local educational institution, spoke about the importance of inclusive education. He shared his experience of founding a school focused on marginalized sections of society and praised Er. Mehraj Malik for raising key issues around education and career guidance.
DSP Sajad Bukhari shared his personal journey to cracking the prestigious civil services examination, despite limited access to resources. He emphasized the role of J&K Police in building a drug-free society and expressed the department's commitment to guiding youth toward productive goals. He encouraged students to reach out for help and assured them of full police support in their educational and career pursuits.
Ms. Anika Nazir, Head of the Women's Wing of SYSF, spoke passionately about women’s education as a fundamental pillar of any progressive society. She discussed her initiative, "Taleem Haq Hai Hamara", which advocates for girls' education across Kashmir. She emphasized the need for a gender-bias-free society and reiterated her team’s commitment to supporting college students and young women in their educational pursuits.
In his address, Mr. Wajahat Farooq Bhat, Chairman of JK-SYSF, highlighted his vision for a peaceful, progressive, and violence-free society. He spoke about ongoing SYSF initiatives across the Kashmir Valley and urged youth to channel their energy toward solving real-world problems and contributing to nation-building.
The program concluded with an open Q&A session, where young participants, especially girls, raised important questions related to education, career, and social challenges. Panelists provided thoughtful responses, fostering a productive and encouraging dialogue.
In his closing remarks, Mr. Wajahat Farooq Bhat reiterated:
"SYSF is not just an organization — it is a family. Every youngster is more than just a member; they are leaders in their own right. We believe in walking hand-in-hand, supporting one another, and building a prosperous society for all."
