On 28th February 2022, the "Save Youth Save Future" (SYSF) Foundation organized a seminar-cum-panel discussion at Town Hall, Pulwama. The event was presided over by SSP Pulwama, Sh. Gh. Jeelani (JKPS). Other speakers at the event included noted social activists Er. Mehraj Malik, a prominent social activist and educationist; Mr. Wajahat Farooq Bhat, Chairman of "SYSF"; Ms. Anika Nazir, a women's rights activist; and Mr. Mudasir Ahmad Dar, Zonal President of SYSF South Kashmir.
SSP Pulwama, Sh. Gh. Jeelani (JKPS), highlighted the significance of public-police coordination in building a well-balanced and democratic society. He focused on how the police are bridging the gap between the youth and the administration. He said that the police, in addition to their traditional law enforcement duties, are also involved in counselling and guiding the youth. He further emphasized that J&K Police is always ready to serve the people of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir in every possible way for a peaceful and prosperous future.
Er. Mehraj Malik gave a brief introduction to the technological advancements in recent times. He highlighted the importance of technology in human societies and its positive impacts. He specifically focused on how the internet can be used positively in various areas of life—education, business, entertainment, culture, and even constructive religious discourse—to foster vibrant public-government coordination in addressing issues at the local, national, and global levels.
Mr. Wajahat Farooq Bhat, Chairman of the SYSF Foundation, discussed the issues of radicalisation and disinformation, and how non-state actors are exploiting the younger generation to fuel conflict in the Valley. He emphasized the urgent need to rebuild trust between the youth and the government at all possible levels. He called on the youth to take up their responsibility in building a well-functioning and democratic society.
Ms. Anika Nazir spoke about the role of women in society. She shared details of her initiative, "Taleem Haq Hai Hamara" (Education is Our Right), through which she is working to overcome the challenges that girls still face—even in the 21st century—in accessing education. She called on all stakeholders to support girls' education and ensure equal opportunities for all.
At the end, an open question-and-answer session was held, providing an opportunity for the youth of Pulwama to discuss a variety of societal issues they are currently confronting.
The session concluded with an award ceremony celebrating the 5th Foundation Day of "Save Youth Save Future", during which various achievers and active members of the organization were felicitated for their outstanding contributions.
A memento was also presented by "Save Youth Save Future" to SSP Pulwama, Sh. Gh. Jeelani (JKPS) as a token of respect and appreciation
